Yes. Book Tracker is designed to work fully offline. You don’t need an internet connection to add books, edit details, track your reading, log progress, take notes, or save quotes. Everything you do with your existing library works without a connection.
What works offline
- Adding books manually — title, author, format, all metadata.
- Editing any book detail.
- Managing Reading Statuses — set status, log pages, percentage, or time.
- Running the Reading Timer — including Live Activity on iPhone and iPad.
- Adding notes and quotes (including OCR via camera).
- Organizing your library — Tags, Series, Positions (Location/Bookcase/Shelf), Smart Lists.
- Viewing statistics — all charts and breakdowns based on data already in your library.
- Creating and accessing backups stored locally on the device.
- Using widgets that show data from your library.
What needs internet
Only the features that talk to external services require a connection:
- Online book search — adding a book by title or ISBN queries online databases.
- Cover image downloads — when a book is added, the cover is fetched online.
- iCloud sync — your changes are uploaded the next time the device is online.
What happens when you come back online
If iCloud sync is enabled, all the offline changes you made are uploaded automatically to iCloud as soon as your device reconnects. You don’t need to do anything: there’s no manual “sync now” step.
