You can move your Delicious Library 3 collection to Book Tracker with one exported file. Book Tracker imports the books and leaves out everything else Delicious Library catalogued, like films, music, and games.
Check Delicious Library’s language
Book Tracker reads Delicious Library exports in English and German. If Delicious Library is in another language, switch it to English before exporting:
- Open System Settings and go to General → Language & Region.
- Under Applications, click the + button.
- Choose Delicious Library 3 and select English.
- Quit and reopen Delicious Library 3.
You can switch it back once the export is done.
Export your library
- Open Delicious Library 3 and go to the Export page.
- Set the export options:
- Export Type: Delimited Text
- Export: Entire Library
- Separate Multiple Values With: Comma
- Delimiter: String-delimiter, with ; in the text field
- Export Fields: select all fields
- Save the file. If its name doesn’t end in .csv, add .csv to the name.
Import the file into Book Tracker
- Open Book Tracker and go to Settings → Import.
- Tap Choose File and select the Delicious Library file.
- Under Exported from, Book Tracker shows Delicious Library 3. If it shows a different app, tap it and pick Delicious Library 3.
- Tap Continue. Book Tracker looks up your books and finds their covers. When it’s done, tap Review.
- Review the list. Each row says what will happen to that book; tap a row to leave it out.
- Tap the Import button, which shows how many books are coming in (for example, Import 312 books). Book Tracker backs up your library before it adds anything.
What comes across
- The book: title, subtitle, authors, illustrator, publisher, ISBN, pages, format, synopsis, release date, languages, and link.
- Series and number in the series.
- Genres as categories, and your shelves as tags.
- Location.
- Your rating, converted to the rating scale you use in Book Tracker.
- Read books, from the played / read count.
- Notes.
- Price and purchase date.
- Your own cover images, when you set one in Delicious Library.
Limits
- Films, music, games, and other items that aren’t books are left out. The import report counts them so the numbers add up.
- Delicious Library records how many times you read a book but not when, so readings arrive without dates.
- Loans are not imported.
- When Delicious Library is in a language other than English or German, Book Tracker doesn’t recognize the file. Pick Delicious Library 3 from the list anyway: Book Tracker reminds you to export again in English.
