Can I track audiobooks differently from books?

Yes. Audiobooks are tracked by listening time instead of pages, and Book Tracker treats them as first-class citizens: separate format, separate metadata source, separate statistics.

How audiobook tracking works

When you add a book and set its Format to Audiobook, Book Tracker automatically suggests:

  • Tracking type: Time — you log progress in HH:mm (hours and minutes) instead of pages.

What you log for an audiobook

Each progress entry has:

  • Time elapsed (your current listening position in the audiobook).
  • Date (when you listened).

Total listening time for the audiobook is calculated from these entries.

Listening statistics

Audiobooks contribute to a separate set of statistics so reading and listening don’t get mixed up:

  • Today’s listening time (Inline Lock Screen widget).
  • Audiobooks listened per month (charts).
  • Listening streaks (consecutive days with at least one logging entry).

You can put any of these on a widget. See How to customize your app with Widgets.

Statistics and the Reading Challenge

Audiobooks count toward your Yearly Reading Challenge when you finish one, exactly like any other format. The Reading Challenge doesn’t distinguish between reading and listening.

Tip: switching tracking type if you change your mind

Started tracking an audiobook by Time but realize you’d rather use Percentage? Open the book → Reading Status → three-dot menu → Convert progress. The existing progress is converted automatically.
