How to export your library from Book Tracker

Book Tracker allows you to export your library in different formats depending on what you want to do:

  • Backups → to fully restore your data on the same or another device.
  • CSV export → to view or edit your library in a spreadsheet or move it to another app.
  • PDF export → to share a printable version of your library.

This guide explains the differences and shows how to export step by step.

Exporting a backup (full database)

Backups include all details: books, reading states, progress, notes, quotes, positions, series, tags, purchases, etc.

Use this method if you want to keep a complete copy of your library safe or restore it later.

iPhone / iPad

  1. Open Book Tracker → Settings → Backup & Restore.
  2. Long tap on the backup you want to export.
  3. Select Share.
  4. Choose the destination (Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop, Mail, etc.).

Mac

  1. Open Book Tracker → Preferences → Backup & Restore.
  2. Right-click on a backup.
  3. Select Share.
  4. Save the file to your preferred location.

👉 Use exported backups when you want to move your library to a new Apple ID or reinstall the app.

Exporting as CSV

CSV exports are ideal if you want to:

  • Open your library in Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets.
  • Analyze or filter your books outside the app.
  • Import your library into other software that supports CSV.

How to export CSV

  1. Open Book Tracker → Settings → Export.
  2. Select CSV.
  3. Apply a filter (if needed).
  4. Save or share the file via Files, AirDrop, or Mail.

⚠️ Note: CSV files do not include all details such as quotes or progress logs. Only backups contain the full database.

Exporting as PDF

PDF exports give you a clean, shareable document of your library.

This is useful if you want to:

  • Print your collection.
  • Share it with friends.
  • Keep a quick offline reference.

How to export PDF

  1. Open Book Tracker → Settings → Export.
  2. Select PDF.
  3. Apply a filter if needed.
  4. Save or share the PDF file.

Best practices

  • Use backups for safety and restoring your data.
  • Use CSV when migrating to other apps or doing spreadsheet analysis.
  • Use PDF when you want a simple, visual copy to share or print.
  • After exporting, keep a copy in Files, iCloud Drive, or external storage for extra safety.

✅ With export options in Book Tracker, you can always back up your data, analyze it outside the app, or share it in the format that works best for you.
