If you accidentally delete a book or even your entire library, don’t worry, you can restore it using backups.
Book Tracker creates automatic daily backups (last 7 days) and also allows you to create manual backups whenever you want.
When you can recover deleted books
- If the book was deleted today → restore from the latest automatic backup.
- If it was deleted earlier in the week → restore from the automatic backup of that day.
- If you regularly create manual backups, you can restore from one of them.
⚠️ Important: restoring a backup replaces your current library with the contents of that backup. Any books added after the backup was created will not be included.
How to restore an automatic backup (iPhone & iPad)
- Open Book Tracker.
- Go to Settings → Backup & Restore.
- Review the list of backups, automatic daily backups are labeled with date and time.
- Select a backup from before the book was deleted.
- Tap Restore and confirm.
- Your library will reload, including the deleted book.
How to restore on Mac
- Open Book Tracker.
- Go to Book Tracker → Preferences → Backup & Restore.
- Select the backup created before deletion.
- Click Restore and confirm.
Using exported backups
If you had exported a backup file earlier (e.g., to Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop, or external storage):
- Open Book Tracker → Backup & Restore.
- Tap Select File.
- Choose the exported backup file.
- Confirm restore.
Best practices
- Always create a manual backup before doing large edits or imports.
- If you accidentally delete a single book, restore the backup closest to that date.
- After restoring, create a new backup of the recovered library to preserve it.
- If you’re using iCloud sync, once you restore on one device, the recovered data will sync to all devices.
✅ With backups, Book Tracker makes it easy to recover books deleted by mistake — your library is always safe as long as you keep backups up to date.
