A common question from new users is: “Where does Book Tracker store my data?”
The answer is simple: your library is always stored locally on your device, with the option to sync securely via iCloud if you enable it. Book Tracker never stores or processes your data on external servers.
Local storage on your device
- By default, your entire library (books, reading states, progress, notes, quotes, statistics, tags, series, positions, and purchases) is stored locally on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
- Daily automatic backups are also created locally, with the last 7 days kept for safety.
- You can create manual backups anytime and export them to Files, AirDrop, or external storage for extra security.👉 See: How to back up your Book Tracker library.
Syncing with iCloud
- If you enable iCloud, Book Tracker uses Apple’s iCloud service to sync your library across devices.
- This data is tied to your Apple ID and protected by Apple’s security and encryption standards.
- Book Tracker has no access to your iCloud data, sync happens entirely within Apple’s infrastructure.👉 Learn more: How to sync Book Tracker across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
What’s not stored anywhere else
- Book Tracker does not use external servers or third-party services.
- No usage data, analytics, or personal information are collected or stored by the developer.
- Your data is not sold or shared with advertisers, privacy is built into the app’s design.
Best practices
- Keep iCloud enabled if you want automatic sync across devices.
- Make regular backups and export them to Files or external storage for extra safety.
✅ With Book Tracker, your library always stays in your hands: stored locally on your device and synced privately through iCloud if you choose.
