Book Tracker imports your library from ten other apps, from another Book Tracker library, and from any CSV file. You choose the file and Book Tracker works out which app it came from: there’s no format to pick.

How to start an import
- Export your library from your old app, following its guide.
- Open Book Tracker and go to Settings → Import.
- Tap Choose File and select the file.
- Check the app under Exported from. If it’s wrong, tap it and pick the right one. If Book Tracker doesn’t recognize the file and it’s from an app that isn’t listed, pick Another App and check which column holds what.
- Tap Continue, then Review. Check the list and tap the Import button.
You’ll find the same guides in Book Tracker: before you choose a file, the import screen lists every app under “Don’t have the file yet?”, and each one opens its guide.

What gets imported
It depends on what each app exports. Most imports include:
- Title, authors, publisher, ISBN, pages, and language
- Format (paperback, hardcover, ebook, audiobook, and more)
- Reading status and reading dates, including every reading when the app records more than one
- Your rating, converted to the rating scale you use in Book Tracker
- Shelves, lists, or collections, as tags
- Purchase date and price
- Notes and reviews
Each app’s guide lists exactly what comes across. Covers are found from the ISBN or from an image link in the file. If some are missing, see Why are covers missing after import?
What does not transfer
- Day-by-day reading progress, unless the app exports it
- Friends, groups, and other people’s reviews
Before you import
- Book Tracker backs up your library automatically before it adds anything, and tells you where to find that backup when the import is done.
- Use the most recent export from your old app.
- If your old app exports several files, use the library export.
- You can review the whole import before buying. Adding the books requires Book Tracker Pro.
